Uncut Gems is a very competent and funny film, but it didn’t make me feel anything apart from tense which it did very well.
It has a very similar message and style to Fargo, but in my opinion it didn’t have as much charm. Fargo has Marge a character who the audience can sympathize with. This film had no Marge, this film had no sympathetic characters, everyone is a cunt.
Adam Sandler is actually a brilliant actor. Uncut Gems shows that he is better at playing more complex characters than romcom leads. Actually every actor in this film is brilliant and the casting for all the characters was genius and they genuinely feel like the people they are playing.
Uncut Gems is a fantastic film, it just didn’t emotionally resonate with me which not all films need to do. It is a film I would recommend people see, but I don’t know if I’ll watch it again.
