Analysis Of The Brief (College)

Radio Station

you will need to choose a station to broadcast your live show with the packages. Once you have decided on a station you will have to make a piece that matches the feel of that station. You will have to make sure that the presenter style, the documentary’s editing style and the theme of the entire piece match the target demo of the station. You will also pick a time that your show will hypothetically broadcast on that station. You will need to listen to the station that you are going to broadcast on to match the tone of that station.

Target Audience

you will need to think about multiple things when it comes to your target audience for example:

What age are they?

What gender are They?

What are their interests and hobbies?

What media do they consume?

What is their accommodation situation?

Do they have a social life, are they introverted or extroverted?

What are the audiences level of technology comprehension?

Package Content

Guests: what guests will you have in your documentary and how are they relevant to your topic. When it comes to guests you will also have to do research into them to find out what questions you will ask them.

SFX: what audio effects will you use to further y=the point of your documentary. For example, if you were doing a documentary on video games would you add arcade sounds, or would that be too distracting – you decide.

Timings: How long your documentary is, is very important. The reason is that beccasue you are working in groups you don’t want to go overtime or undertime and make the group have to work around your mistake. You also want to keep your documentary nice and concise to keep the listener engaged.

Research: It is very important that you do research for your documentary so you know about the subject when you are writing your documentary script and when you are doing the interviews. The best interview is a well researched one.

Pitch: You will need to pitch your idea to the group, but you will also have to pitch your group idea for the package to the entire class.

Group Workings

Your group will have to do a lot of work to make your show a reality. Your group will have to think about the fact that the show will be an hour long and how all your documentaries will fit into that 1-hour slot. They will also have to think about who will be in the studio during the one-hour show. What guest will you have to talk to during the one-hour show. How are they relevant to the topic of the one-hour show? There is a lot to think about. You will also need to think about when to have team meetings and how to split up roles.

Planning

Like all things in life, this project has an end date. You will need to think in your groups how you are going to meet that end date. You might have to make a gnat chart to do this. Basically in your group you are going to have to set dates on when to get things done and have backup solutions if not everyone in your group gets their work done.

Hardware/Software

What software and hardware will you use to make your project a reality, for example you might use Pro-Tools for editing (software) and the studio mics for recording (hardware).

Costings

How much is everything hypothetically going to cost to make.
